The new solution significantly extends the device’s service life, reduces maintenance costs, and sets a new standard of reliability in the field of water metering.
In traditional water meters, the built-in battery’s service life is usually limited to 10–12 years, after which replacement or full replacement of the device is required. In practice, with increasing demands from utilities regarding the amount of information received from meters and the frequency of data transmission, the service life of built-in power sources can be significantly reduced. This leads to additional costs and the need to purchase a new meter and pay replacement expenses.
In the new version, ADDRA offers an external powerbank, which increases the autonomous operation of the meter up to 30 years. If necessary, the powerbank can be replaced in minutes, without stopping the water supply and without resorting to complex technical procedures.
This solution allows utilities to significantly reduce operating costs, since the cost of an external powerbank is significantly lower than the cost of a new meter, and replacing the battery is much cheaper than dismantling and installing a new meter. For this, it is enough to purchase a new powerbank separately from the manufacturer or ADD GRUP partners, after which the device continues to operate normally. This approach makes the system maximally flexible and economically advantageous, as the meter’s service life significantly exceeds the battery’s service life.
Reliable power directly affects the accuracy and uninterruptedness of data transmission. The ultrasonic ADDRA meter is able to record water consumption with a minimum starting flow of only 1 liter per hour, ensuring precise measurement even of very low flows. The external powerbank guarantees that this functionality will remain unchanged for many years, even if the internal power source is already discharged.
