ADD GRUP, an international developer and manufacturer of smart energy and water metering solutions, announces the receipt of the EU-Type Examination Certificate for its electricity meters AD21N (single-phase) and AD23N (three-phase).
The tests were conducted by the independent European certification institute ITE, which carried out a full cycle of laboratory tests and confirmed that the devices comply with the established technical and metrological requirements.
As with the previous generation, the meters are built on a universal platform that supports PRIME 1.3.6/1.4, as well as its hybrid version, along with G3-PLC and Hybrid G3-PLC. The solution concept remains unchanged and is based on a communication strategy of 98% PLC + 2% 3GPP, which involves the use of integrated PLC modems with the option to retrofit individual devices with 3GPP modems for specific scenarios.
At the same time, the new generation of ADDAX Series 9 meters was developed as a technological evolution of the previous series while maintaining full functional compatibility. This approach allows operators and energy companies to deploy new equipment without the need to modify existing infrastructure, metering systems, or integration solutions.
The emergence of the new generation is driven by several key factors. First and foremost, it is about future-proofing: the new hardware platform has significantly greater computing resources, enabling unlimited expansion of device functionality and support for the development of modern communication standards, including PRIME v1.4.
Particular attention was paid to enhancing the level of protection. At the hardware level, the meters use shunt measurement technology, which provides increased resistance to external influences, including the effects of magnetic fields and attempts at unauthorized tampering. At the software level, support for modern cybersecurity mechanisms has been implemented, including encryption and authentication based on PRIME v1.4 and elements of DLMS Security Suite 1.
In addition, the new generation has been optimized from a manufacturing perspective: the use of a modern component base and a unified platform increase supply chain resilience and enables more efficient scaling of solutions across different markets and customer requirements.
Despite retaining the functionality of the previous generation, Series 9 opens up opportunities for the introduction of new features. These include increased data transfer speeds thanks to enhanced PLC communication capabilities, improved relay status control, flexible overload protection mechanisms, and an extended operating voltage range.
Today, ADD GRUP solutions are used in smart metering projects in more than 39 countries, and the total number of installed devices exceeds 8 million. Receiving the Neoclassic Version 9 certificates once again confirms the technological maturity of ADD GRUP’s products and their readiness for use in modern energy systems of the future.
